When selecting a caregiver, your best friend is research, spend the time to do this first and you will appreciate it greatly when it comes time to get your medical marijuana.
There are a ton of caregivers out there, some good, some not so good. As a patient, you have a right to good care so please choose carefully.
Ask the following questions, then go home and think about it! Don't make an on the spot decision and by all means, DO NOT LET A CAREGIVER PRESSURE YOU! If you feel pressured at all, or if the "deal" they present to you seems too good to be true, it probably is.
* Call them up, do they answer the phone in a polite voice? Do they answer the phone at all? If you leave a message, do they call back?
* Meet your potential caregiver and interview them! Meet them and see how you feel after the personal interaction. Make sure you feel at ease with the person you select. Do they have a professional appearance? Do they speak intelligently? Do they offer to show you the medicine they produce? Do they offer support services?
* If you've made it this far, and you've chosen them as your caregiver, how is the follow up? Do they still answer calls and emails? Does the medicine they provide work for you?
* Are their prices reasonable? Do you always get the proper amount of medicine requested?
* Make sure the caregiver you’re interviewing is knowledgeable about the law regarding medical marijuana and ensure they understand how they impact your ability to have medicine available to you as needed.
* Ask the caregiver to explain to you his or her cultivating techniques and whether or not he or she can meet your needs all year long.
Bottom line, do your homework. Don't just sign up your friend as your caregiver and don't necessarily pick someone because he/she has the cheapest prices, you might just end up getting what you pay for and if you aren't satisfied, fill out a change request form with the State.
Bad service will help to weed out (no pun intended) the bad caregivers. The change in administration that has allowed the medical marijuana boom in both patients and caregivers is a good thing as it provides for competition and the need for caregivers to excel.
